Lake District Trip 2019 – Day 3 – High Street

When we last visited the Lake District in August, we enjoyed a hike along High Street in the Far Eastern Fells. Unfortunately for us the weather was quite bad, meaning the whole day we spent in cloud and fog, relying heavily on our map and compass! Thankfully, today we were greeted with brilliantly clear weather!

We parked up at Hartsop, a short drive from Patterdale, and started our assent via The Knott. It’s a really easy route and one which I was keen to do so we could see the views we missed out on last time!

As we came around The Knott, we approached The Straits of Riggindale. The views from this point looking towards the Eastern Fells was spectacular!

With extremely clear weather you could see Helvellyn, Catstycam, St Sunday Crag and even the corner of Brothers Water!

We continued on, following High Street, and then took a left to take in the views from Kidsty Pike. As we came onto the summit the wind hit us, nearly blowing us over! Sadly this wasn’t going to bode well for taking photographs! We continued on to take in the views from High Raise and then Rampsgill Head.

Thankfully, by the time we got onto Rampsgill Head the wind had subsided enough for me to capture this abstract view looking across to the Eastern Fells.

We descended down via The Knott back into Hartsop before continuing onto Brothers Water to capture some sunset images, which you can read about in my next blog post!

All the images above are available as high quality prints for you to enjoy in your home from my Lake District Print Collection.
