During the coming few months I am keen to visit some new locations ‘to me’ and capture some inspiring landscape photography images from around the Peak District. While I have covered Ladybower Reservoir on a several occasions, I haven’t ventured up to Derwent & Howden Reservoirs, and the famous Howden Dam, therefore I was keen to see what they had to offer photographically.
After doing a little research online I spotted an interesting location overlooking Howden Dam called Abbey Bank. The spot looked to be ideal for sunset, as the sun would side light the dam and surrounds hills and moorland. I set off and parked up at Derwent Dam and made my way up to the vantage point, capturing some images along the way on Derwent Reservoir.

Once I made my way up onto Abbey Bank, the conditions stayed overcast which didn’t produce the beautiful side light I was hoping for at sunset. However I managed to capture several images I was happy with overlooking the dam.
