Artwork and your Home Office

Home Office Artwork

Amid other changes in the current Covid-19 situation, most of us have been advised to work from home and have consequently set up our home work spaces. Perhaps you’ve setup a home office in your dining room or you’ve cleared space in a spare bedroom to work. Wherever your home office is, creating a space to work is more than a desk and chair, it’s a space where you need to feel comfortable, happy and engaged in the work you are doing.

As your working week may look somewhat different to a few months ago, with the additional challenges of your children interrupting your Zoom meeting, you may also find a need to be more focused, creative and innovative in the work you’re doing. Studies show us that personalising your work space can help in all of these areas whilst also making us feel happier, calmer and can even increase our creativity.

Perhaps then we should be embracing the chance we have to work from home and to personalise our home office space to get the most out of it!

Why should I personalise my working space?

Personalising your workspace is not a new phenomenon, yet many of us confess that our offices feature plain white walls, a basic chair and a desk. Perhaps we try to work in this clinical environment to stop our minds from wandering, as we feel this is a bad thing. However, studies have actually shown that letting our mind wander isn’t always a bad thing. Letting our subconscious mind take over from time to time is often an excellent way to allow our minds to work out a problem, or to think up our next innovative idea.

Despite our plain working environments, a study carried out by YouGov shows us that almost a third of us (29%) believe that we should have some kind of artwork taking pride of place in our offices. Furthermore, 27% of us said that artwork makes us feel happier and calmer.

Choosing artwork for your home office?

Choosing a piece of artwork for your home office is such a personal process, whether a painting, sculpture, textile or something abstract. From the recent YouGov poll it was shown that landscape photographs were the most desirable type of artwork for an office (35%), followed by landscape paintings (33%) and then abstract paintings (25%).

But why might a landscape photographs be the most desirable type of artwork for your office? Perhaps it’s bringing the outdoors in…many of us feel calmer when we are connected to nature. Or could it also be that the photograph features somewhere you have been with a loved one, triggering our endorphins and oxytocin to give us a happiness boost and a feeling of calmness.

Whatever the reason, we want to help you feel happy, calm and motivated in your home office! We’ve selected some of our most popular prints that we hope will help you to feel more imaginative, reflective and innovative in your home office environment.

If you’d like to discuss any of our landscape photography prints please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
